VERBUND-Austrian Hydro Power AG (AHP), Wienstrom, and EVN are together building a small hydropower plant at Nussdorf on the outskirts of Vienna.

Total investment costs amount to approx. € 15 million. The plant will generate 24.6 million kilowatt hours of power annually with a bottleneck capacity of 4,800 kilowatt. This amount of power can supply 10,000 Viennese households with clean and environmentally sound energy. The power plant is expected to go on stream by 2005.

Under water, 12 matrix turbines provide for an optimal use of resources. This power plant solution will not change the water regime in the Danube Canal.

The hydropower station will be managed by the "Kraftwerk Nußdorf Errichtungs- und Betriebsgesellschaft" created for this purpose. The Verbund subsidiary AHP, Wienstrom, and EVN Naturkraft each hold one third of the company.
