With a total budget of EUR 6.86 million ALSO Danube is the most important technology project for Danube navigation and a major one within the 5th EU Framework Directive.
Until fall 2002, 25 partner companies (21 from the EU, as well as from Romania, Slovakia and Hungary) will establish four logistic chains with an open information and communication network between the ports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp and Budapest. The development of intermodal transport operations shall improve the competitiveness of inland waterway transport and relieve road transport at the same time. The ÖIR will evaluate the results of this project.
