The Hungarian Parliament accepted the act about the Protection of the Environment on July 22nd 1995. It came into force from Jnuary 1st 1996. The present text follows that of the original act, it does not contain the later supplements.
Considering the fact that the natural heritage and environmental values are part of the national wealth, their preservation and conservation and the improvement of their quality are primary conditions from the aspect of the health and quality of life of the biosphere, and of humans in particular. Without this, no harmony between human activities and nature can be maintained. Neglecting them would pose hazard to the health of present generations, the existence of future generations and the survival of a number of species. Therefore, the Hungarian Parliament, in conformity with the Constitution, created the Act LIII of 1995 on the General Rules of Environmental Protection. Download Act LIII at the end of page.
