With the Help of the European Investment Bank
Over 216 Million Zlotys for Repairing Flood Damage

In 2003, over 216 millions Polish zlotys (48 millions EUR) were allocated to regional water management administrations for repairing flood damage from 2001.

Most of the funds came from a grant of 385 million euros assigned to Poland by the European Investment Bank in December 2001. The money will be spent on rebuilding public infrastructure.

According to the grant agreement, part of the money will be allocated to designing, checking and carrying out a range of discrete projects.

Other funds can be used for flood protection work, in order to reduce the risks of similar disasters in the future.

It is expected that the funds will be used during the period 2002-2005. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farm Development and the remaining 60% by the Ministry of Environment will manage 40% of the grant.
