 Grundfos Took Further Expansion Step!

To further strengthen its market position in the field of dosing pumps – mainly for chemicals and all kinds of liquids in water treatment – the Danish pump Group Grundfos took over the German Group Alldos Eichler GmbH at the beginning of this year.

After the acquisition of the German pump manufacturer Hilge in 2004, this constitutes a further expansion step.

Grundfos has been involved in this business area for four years only, but in spite of that the Group has managed to develop and introduce some of the most advanced dosing pumps in the market – particularly with the introduction of its Digital Dosing Concept.

The acquisition of Alldos provides Grundfos with a solid basis for further growth, since the German manufacturer with its experience of 36 years has an impressive practical knowledge in the field of dosing as well as in measuring and control technology.

With regard to development, Alldos also closely cooperates with the College of Engineering in Karlsruhe (Germany) and has also a well-established sales network, whose value has only recently been proven. Thus, the British UV disinfection specialist Hanovia declared its intention to concentrate its presence in Europe and for this purpose to make Alldos the exclusive representative of its products in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland!

In connection with the takeover, the former owner of Alldos, Wolfgang Eichler, retired from his position as chairman of the board. Søren Ø. Sørensen (Grundfos) took up the post. The Alldos management will not change.

Sørensen: “With this acquisition, we wish to create a competence centre for dosing pumps based at Alldos. The acquisition increases our possibilities for synergy between our dosing pumps and a wide range of other Grundfos products. This is the first time Grundfos establishes a large product development centre outside Denmark!”

Before the takeover, the Alldos Group had an annual turnover of approximately € 40 million (administrative headquarters near Basel/Switzerland, main plant in Pfinztal near Karlsruhe) with 280 employees. Grundfos has great expectations regarding this relatively new business area. The group’s total turnover within the dosing business area is expected to increase considerably in the future and thus reach € 100 million.
