 Voith Siemens Hydro to Equip Chinese Si Lin Hydropower Project

Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation Shanghai has won a new award for equipping the hydropower plant Si Lin on Wu River in China’s province Guizhou.


The contract value amounts to € 32 million (US $ 41 million). The scope of supply includes four vertical Francis turbines each with an output of 270 MW. As the runners’ dimensions (diameter of around 7 m) exceed the average transportation conditions, they will be fabricated at site.

The commissioning of the first unit of the new hydroelectric project on Wu river is scheduled for August 2008. In 2012 Si Lin shall entirely be connected to the grid. According to Chinese government’s plan the hydropower station shall deliver its electricity to the eastern provinces.

Si Lin is the second contract Voith Siemens Hydro has been awarded by Wu Jiang Hydro Power Development Company after Hong Jia Du successfully commissioned in 2004.
