Austro-Russian cooperation to build new hydropower plants
Russia’s largest hydropower producer Federal Hydrogeneration Company (HydroOGK) and Austria’s leading electricity provider VERBUND have drafted a Declaration of Intent, which was signed by Vyacheslav Sinyugin, CEO of HydroOGK, and Hans Haider, CEO of VERBUND, on 10th November. The contracting partners will start their collaboration by drafting a joint study on the construction of new hydropower plants in Russia. They will establish a working group for this purpose, which shall investigate potential areas of cooperation as well as specific hydropower projects. State-run HydroOGK operates 49 hydropower plants with a total installed capacity of 23,308 MW.
