Object of Small Water Power Station in Trencianske Teplice
Water Power Station Trencianske Teplice

In the years 1896-1898, in the Teplicka Creek, in the area of the spa park in Trencianske Teplice, a small water power station (SWPS) was built, production of which was determined for driving a little electric train which is still running on the route of Trencianska Tepla-Trencin Spa and back.

Water Power Station Male Palenisko

SWPS consists of the inlet and distribution object, open and closed canal, equalizing tank, electric power station, and waste piping conducted under ground. In the creek before the inlet object, a small equalizing tank was built, where the water level was maintained in a constant height by a fixed round sink.

The construction represents an architectonic speciality with large gargoyle in front of the building. The individual objects are well maintained and marked by sign boards. It might be worthy to consider reconstruction of this building and putting it into operation. The design and distribution of the SWPS objects is so good that even under the current ecologic requirements, the object may be assessed to have a very high standard.
