THE DEGREE OF MOTYCKY – DOLNY JELENEC has the following objects: the Motycky accumulation reservoir created by a dam, the consumption (inlet) object, the pressure canal, and the water power station of Dolny Jelenec. The total volume of the reservoir is Vc = 55.0 . 103 m3, including the reserve of Vz = 44.0 . 103 m3.
The dam of the MOTYCKY ACCUMULATION RESERVOIR is built as a slab jointed dam. It is 10.0 m high with the heaving of 6.0 m, the top is 170 m long. The consumption–inlet object of the pressure canal is on the left side of the reservoir. The pressure canal from the reservoir leads to the water power station of Dolny Jelenec and is created by the pressure tunnel 1,233.5 m long.
THE WATER POWER STATION OF DOLNY JELENEC has three Francis turbines for a fall of 101.7 – 101.5 m. Two turbines have horizontal axes, the capacity of 0.425 m3.s_1 and the power of 400 kW, or 800 kW respectively. They were installed in the year 1925. The third one is reversible and was installed in the year 1939.
On the left side of the reservoir there is the inlet object of the pressure canal. The total length of the canal is 3,195.45 m with the slope of 1.4 %.
THE WATER POWER STATION OF STARE HORY was built in the year 1926. The pressure piping is connected to two Francis turbines with horizontal axis. They use the slope of 79 – 83 m. The capacity is 0.6 m3.s_1.
The cascade of water works of MOTYCKY – JELENEC – STARE HORY still serves for its purpose. It is interesting not only from the aspect of power, but also by the construction of the dams. Both reservoirs are created by dams which were unique at the time of building. These are the first slab jointed dams – of the Ambursen type.
THE DEGREE OF DOLNY JELENEC – STARE HORY consists of the following main objects: the accumulation reservoir of Dolny Jelenec, created by a jointed dam, with the consumption object, the pressure canal, and the power station of Stare Hory. The accumulation reservoir in the Jelenec brook serves also as a balancing reservoir. It catches water not only from the Jelenec brook but also a part of the flows of the Starohorsky brook. The reservoir has the total volume of Vc = 33,000 m3, including the reserve of Vz = 28 500 m3. From the Starohorsky brook, water is led to the reservoir via a tunnel 170/150 cm. The Dolny Jelenec dam is built as a slab jointed dam of the Ambursen type. It has maximum height of 11.65 m, with the heaving of 5.8 m high, and the width in the top of 73.85 m.
