Association of Water Treatment Experts of the Slovak Republic ('ACE SR')
In the year 2000, the first bienale conference of the Association of Water Treatment Experts of the Slovak Republic ("ACE SR") „Waster Water 2000" was held in Tatranske Zruby.

The main objective was to create a space for open presentation of the latest information, experience in operation, and information from research relating to waste water disposal.

The discussions were divided into the following sections:

  • current status in waste water drainage and treatment in the Slovak Republic
  • sewage networks
  • municipal waste water treatment stations
  • sludge management in waste water treatment stations
  • small waste water treatment stations
  • industrial waste water treatment stations

In the first half-year 2000, ACE SR executed two agreements on co-operation with professional organisations from Austria and the Czech Republic – in February with Österreichischer Wasser und Abfallwirtschaftsverein (ÖWAV) Austria, and in April with ACE CR.

ÖWAV operates for already 90 years and represents, both on domestic and international basis, a highly recognized organisation. Under the agreement, either of ÖWAV and ACE SR shall inform the other party on its activities, shall provide to their members interesting benefits in participation in professional events, they shall exchange professional literature, and shall enable presentation of selected publications. At the same time, they will organise common events and co-operate in common projects, if any.

The agreement with ACE CR contains articles on co-operation and exchange of information. The agreement has one non-standard provision – according to which all members of ACE SR shall at the same time be members of ACE CR and vice versa. Such article should even more support maintenance and creation of non-standard relations between both Associations and their members.

The following titles are new in the Association´s library:

  • Bulletin from the conference of ACE SR named Waste Water 2000
  • Bulletin from the seminar named New Methods and Procedures on Operating Waste Water Treatment Stations
  • Bulletin from the OWAV seminar named Security and Health Protection in Waste Water Treatment Stations

Attention is drawn to the latest publication of ACE CR by the authors J. Wanner, I. Ru*i?ková, O. Krhutková, O. Benes: "Biologic Control of Waste Water Treatment Stations".

The publication represents a unique summary of knowledge and instructions for biologic evaluation of sewage sludge. It contains a colour atlas of the most significant microorganisms (printed or on CD).
