 Ultrasound for Clear Water
US scientists use acoustics to guarantee pure drinking water: the water filter membranes are examined with ultrasound for decaying deposits that would re-contaminate the purified water.

The development of the Center for Membrane and Applied Sciences and Technology of the University of Colorado is functioning in a similar way as ultrasonic appliances used in medicine, but with much more precision. Membranes with extremely fine pores are used to purify waste or salt water – water molecules can pass, while larger molecules such as salts, bacteria and viruses get stuck.
