A precondition for navigability of the river Váh is the navigability of its lower stretch, i.e. section from the Králová water work to the Danube estuary. There are two water works in this section of the rive Váh: Králová and Sedlice. Information on operation of the Králová and Sedlice water works. Research results of the power generation functions of the Krá?ová water works.
At the present status of the water works, the shipping traffic and power functions of the Králová water work are under the following effects: inconsistent requirements of the power generating and water management operators in terms of start-up time of the power plan, required length of operation and waterflow through the water work.
If the Králová plant turbines operate with waterflows close to the absorption capacity of the turbines, they cannot increase the output significantly, and large volume of water must be released from the dam for optimal shipping conditions. In operation at operating levels in the reservoir close to the peak level the maximal guaranteed gradient is exceeded, resulting in increased machine load, vibration and wear.
