Green light for Twin City Liner!

The photomontage demonstrates what from June 2006 will become an everyday reality: with a peak speed of 60 km/h and a capacity of 102 seats, the high-speed catamaran Twin City Liner will provide a modern yet idyllic water shuttle service between the capi

tals of Vienna and Bratislava.

The boarding point in Vienna will be located on the Danube Canal at Schwedenplatz. The 75-minute boat trip service is scheduled to operate three times a day from June until end of October this year, and May through October from 2007. The liner, having merely 0.8 m draught and jet propulsion, is perfectly suited to navigate the Danube and Danube Canal; its hull is said to produce less wash than other passenger liners currently operating on the Danube Canal. This project was launched in the framework of a public-private-partnership model. The partners are Central Danube Region Marketing & Development GmbH, an enterprise of Wien Holding, and Raiffeisenlandesbank Vienna-Lower Austria.
